Farm Machinery Corporation Limited is officially launched today

The Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) is 100% State Owned Enterprise (SoE) registered under Ministry of Finance on 29th March, 2016 with the mandate to deliver farm mechanization services to the farmers of Bhutan.The office was officially launched today (19/8/2016) and the ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Minister for Ministry of Agriculture and Forest as a chief guest.  The Hon’ble Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, the chairman of Board of Directors for FMCL, Hon’ble Secretary for Ministry of Agriculture and Forest, Hon’ble Chief Representative of Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), Dasho Dzongdag, Paro Dzongkhag Administration, Heads of Departments and other organization were also present during the opening ceremony of corporative office.
The ceremony was onset with the welcome speech being delivered by chairman, Board of Director for FMCL. He informed that, the FMCL has bigger responsibility and opportunity in serving the country and people through farm mechanization services. The FMCL is mandated to look after the machine hiring services, distribution and sales of machine spare parts at the affordable price, repair and maintenance, installation and fabrication of farm machineries. The FMCL will function through four regions namely, Trashigang at the east, Gelephu in the south, Wangduephodrang Bajo in the central region and Paro Bondey for western region.
The Hon’ble Lyonpo, Ministry of Agriculture and Forest further graced the opening ceremony with important message to the management of FMCL on the expected responsibilities and activities to be carried out for the farmers in mechanizing the farm for better source of income. The reviving the fallow land through use of farm machineries was also addressed as an important component to be carried out by the FMCL owing to the limited cultivable land owned by the individual farmers. The Hon’ble Lyonpo also extended his sincere gratitude and thanks for the unremitting support and help rendered from the Government of Japan, JICA.
The opening ceremony of the FMCL was also seen with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bhutan Hydropower Services Limited (BHSL) and CEO of FMCL to collaborate on the repair and maintenance of farm machineries as the BHSL is already well equipped with the machineries which are being used for the maintenance of turbines. The signing was done in the presence of Hon’ble Secretary, the chairman of FMCL. Further, the motor bikes, tool boxes and computers received as a donation from the JICA project was also officially handed over to FMCL in the presence of Chief Representative of JICA, Bhutan.
In the afternoon, simple gathering was organized for FMCL staffs and were offered with Tashi khadar and office order. The CEO wished them a best of luck for the future endeavors.
