FMCL Board Chairperson visit to Kana Citrus Commercial Farm, Dagana

FMCL Board chairperson Mrs. Kinlay Tshering, Director of Department of Agriculture visited Kana, citrus commercial farm on 15th October, 2017 for the first time after taking up the current post. The Director was accompanying His Excellency Sanam Lyonpo who is on geog tour to Dagana Dzongkhag. The Board chairperson also met with the staffs working with the farms. While on briefing the employees, the following points were shared on the potential and possible way forward of the farm:
1. Construction of collection store as to collect the mandarins grown by the nearby villagers for better postharvest handling and storage in marketing the produce. The department of agriculture to sought possible funding for the infrastructure to be constructed in the farm.

2. The Dzongkhag and Regional Research Centers to provide technical capacity training while conducting in their respective regions to the young youths recruited with the farm for better management of the farm.

3. To start with delivering of farm mechanization services to the farmers from the farm within the Dzongkhag.

4. The farm to collaborate with the research center and Dzongkhag to grow fodder grasses and other economical plants at the edges of farm road to prevent from landslides and soil erosion upon their technical advice.
