SPRING PADDY HAVESTING IN FULLSWING
For the first time in Bhutan, Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Forest has cultivated spring paddy at southern region. With effect from 1st July, 2017 FMCL started to reap the paddy. Despite the harsh weather FMCL is trying best to come up with productive outcome. If the current spring paddy becomes the successful one it will be a yearly activity for FMCL.

Power Tiller Engine Overhauling Training

As a part of the activity for the meaningful youth employment in the corporate world, 23 staffs including farm assistants and technicians from all the regional offices are attending nine days of training on ‘Power Tiller Engine Overhauling’ which started from today (22/6/17) at Khangma, RAMC with the support from Agriculture Machinery Center.

Consultative Workshop Conducted for Commercial Spring Paddy

A day long consultative workshop was organized in Gelephu, dated 9th July, 2017 inviting the relevant stake holders which includes rice specialist, Rice Coordinators, Program Directors, Dzongkhag Agriculture Officers and Extension officers to discussed on the way forward of commercial spring paddy cultivation in the subsequent years. Sensitization Workshop

The two day long workshop started for the graduates working in the farms, regional and to those who will be soon posted to different Dzongkhags to onset with the coordination and execution of farm machinery activities. The workshop is expected to orient our young officers with the procedures and protocol in delivery of efficient services including the proper documentations of the work executed in their respective region.  The section heads will present the overview of individual work plans and way forward as to help and support in moving the mandate of FMCL beyond the horizon.
The management wish them to get the best knowledge and skills within the short period of time.

Power Tiller Distribution at Samtse Dzongkhag

The power tiller distribution for the Samtse Dzongkhag was graced by his Excellency, Minister for Ministry of Information and Communication. The members of parliament, Dasho Dzongdag, Gups of fifteen geog, Dzongkhag Agriculture officials were present in the program. The distribution of power tiller is expected to help our rural farming communities in mechanising the agriculture farms there by increasing the crop production. Tashi Delek to all beneficiaries!!!

14th National Job Fair

The Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) along with forty four other state own enterprise (SoE) and private companies joined the 14th National Job fair organized from 17th -18th May, 2017 in the capital, Changlingmethang by Ministry of Labor and Human Resources with the theme “Jobs for independence and self-respect”. The FMCL has collected 225(Two hundred twenty five only) numbers of applications for the various post announced during the exhibition. The company also received a certificate of participation from the Director General, Department of Employment on behalf of ministry as a token of appreciation for the participation. The company is privilege to receive the award and felt big responsibility is assigned on us to move forward with the young youths to help and support in disseminating skills and knowledge. Contract signing with new recruited staffs

The contract signing with new staffs recruited with the financial support of Ministry of Labour and Human resources was signed on 26th April, 2017 for the Paro regional and Production unit. The similar program was conducted in Khangma, Samtenling, Bajo, Phuntshothang and Kana farm in Samdrupjongkhar and Dagana respectively. The signing program for staff of Nitchula and Thimphu shall be conducted very soon. Further the compact signing with the regional managers and section heads were also conducted as a part of the program. In Paro, the compact signing was conducted with Head, Production Unit and Deputy General Manager, AFD. The signing is expected to help and support in achieving the annual target and plans.

Contractual agreement signed between Taktshang Lam and Chief Executive Officer

Keeping in view of the mandate of reviving of fallow lands owned by individuals and institutions in the country, a contractual agreement was signed between the Taktshang Lam and Chief Executive Officer on 20th March, 2017 to lease in a total of 15 acres registered with Taktshang Monastry located at Tshento Shari for a period of five years. This is second contractual agreement signed with Dratshang after signing with Trashigang Dratshang in the month of December, 2016.  The lease land will be used for the cultivation of different types of crops. Further, the land measuring to 2.7 acres will be taken up by Yusipang Research Center for the conduction of high altitude rice variety. The management of FMCL is looking forward for better utilization of land in the days to come.

Spring paddy cultivation program samtse

The commercial spring paddy cultivation program for the Samtse Dzongkhang was graced by Dasho dzongdag along with the volunteers from different stake holders including 30 students  from yoeseltse MSS on 15th March.  More than 180 participants joined to onset with spring paddy transplantation.

Spring Paddy cultivation at Gelephu,Sarpang

200 acres of paddy transplanting on going at Gelephu. Another 600 acres at Phuntshothang, Chuzergang and Samtse will follow soon.
MoAF is undertaking spring paddy cultivation to increase rice productivity. Currently only 48 percent of total requirement is met from domestic production. The national average rice consumption is 142 kgs per person per year which is highest in the world. In order to achieve sufficiency level, Bhutan must increase productivity (1.5mt per acre), increase paddy area, grow twice in southern belt, decrease consumption etc.
MoAF is taking various measures to mitigate this shortage. FMCL is instituted to provide alternative to farming.

On 16th of November 2016, the team of JICA Nepal Alumnae leaded by Chief Advisor of JICA Nepal visited Agriculture Machinery Center & Farm Machinery Corporation Limited in particular the Late Dasho Nishoka’s Museum and Production Unit. All of them had served under JICA Nepal, especially in development of Nepal Agriculture Program. “Fab Lab” will be in Bhutan soon.

On 14th November, 2016, a team of Japanese Expertise lead by Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan, Mr. Koji Yamada, visited Farm Machinery Corporation Limited. The team delivered a presentation on “Fab Lab” to FMCL staff. The aim of the presentation is to create awareness on “Fab Lab”. The Chief Executive Officer along with the team from Farm Machinery Corporation Limited(FMCL), Paro has visited three Regional Offices of Bajo, Samtenling and Khangma respectively with effect from 10th - 23rd October, 2016. The team also visited Norjinthang farm in Trashigang, Phuntshothang Agriculture Rehabilitation Project (PARP) in S/Jongkhar, Nichula farm in Lhamozingkha and Farm Machinery Service Centre in Phuntshothang and to Lhamozingkha under Dagana Dzongkhag.

YANMAR Power Reaper on Field Test

The Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) coinciding with the harvesting season of paddy in particular is providing various machines for hiring services throughout the country from the four regions. The combined harvesting machines and power reaper harvesters are already deployed in different places of the country with the contract operators operating the machines. 3rd Client Care Training

The 3rd Client Care Training was conducted from 5th till 7th of October, 2016 which consist of 20 participants. The training was held for the staffs from all the four regional centers that consist the Contact Operators. As per the participants point of view they said that the training was very effective and convenient too as they have to directly deal with the clients in the field. The training was closed on 7th of October by awarding certificates to every individual.

Training for FMCL staffs


32 participants from Farm Machinery Corporation limited, Paro (FMCL) are attending the training on repair, maintenance and operation of the machines.

The training is provided to elaborate and enhance skills to the FMCL officials, technicians and operators, training was started from 19th September for the period of 5 days at Agriculture Machinery Training Centre.

Client Care Training

As per the Mandated of Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL), twenty numbers of FMCL staffs are participating in a week long Customer/Client Care Training organized by Farm Machinery Corporation Limited, funded by Strengthening Farm Mechanization Project Phase II (SMaFP II) under JICA. The training has started from 19th of September and it will end on 24th of September at FMCL Conference Hall. Training is facilitated by the various experts from Institute of Management Studies (IMS), based at Thimphu. Training is a part of an Orientation Program for the newly recruited staffs under FMCL.
The objective of the Client Care Training is to Inculcate and Enhancing Professionalism with the clients. That way participant will be trained specifically on clients importance throughout their week long training and the various methods on providing care to the clients.

Orientation to new staffs of FMCL

On 14th September 2016, the management of Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) conducted for 23 new recruitment staffs. The orientation started with the keynote speech being delivered by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) followed by introduction of participants to make comfortable and to know each other. The session was followed with the presentation presented on the vision and mandate of newly established company by Head, Contract Farming.
In the afternoon, expert from JICA presented his view and idea about FMCL. The day ended with the presentation by Finance, ADM and Marketing Officer on their vision and way forward of FMCL. The program was organized in order to have clear idea on the company and to get familiarized with applicable rules and responsibilities of company.

Regional Farm Machinery Co.Ltd, Paro receives Motor Bike

With the support from SFaMP-II Project, FMCL has received 12 Nos motor bike to carry out the hiring activities.
The Bike will be distributed 3 each to FMCL Bajo, Khangma, 2 Nos to FMCL samteling and 4 Nos to FMCL Paro.
The handing taking of 4 Nos bike has taken place at FMCL, Paro in the presence of SFMP-II Project coordinator, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Oftg. Program Director of AMC.
