Rice Mill Machine Demonstration

FMCL in collaboration with the Mitsubishi Company based in Japan is introducing a new Rice mill. Currently, the officials from our office including two Japanese counterparts are carrying out demonstrations to the farming communities of Luni and Shaba geog under Paro Dzongkhag. The similar demonstration will be conducted in Bajo and Samtenling Regional Offices under Sarpang and Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag respectively as to create better awareness and feed backs.   IT’S A PRODUCT FROM JAPAN WHICH CAN PRODCUCE QUALITY RICE AND WE SHALL PROVIDE ASSURED AFTER SALES SERVICES AND SPARE PARTS.

Farms Economics Training

The food security in the country has become an utmost importance in realizing the goal of self sufficiency. Accordingly, FMCL is in the process of setting up commercial and contract farm at various Dzongkhags with so many youths recruited to carry out numerious agriculture activities in the farms. Hence, understanding basic farm ecomonics would help our youths in understanding the cost benefits in executing agriculture production. A week long training to the Farm Assistant working in the farms started today at IMSL, Thimphu.

In House Training on Book Keeping & Database complets today.

The In-house hands on training of Book Keeping, Inventory and HR management system was successfully completed with the award of certificate to the participants by Deputy General Manager, FMSD. Similar training was organized and conducted in Kana commercial farm for the west and southern regional staffs involving participants from farms. Subsequently, the training was conducted in Phuntshothang commercial farm for the eastern regional staffs.

Power Tiller Handing taking cermony

A ceremony to handing taking 353 power tillers was held in Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC), Paro, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, on 10th January, 2018. H.E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan, cordially handed the machines to H.E. Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister of Agriculture and Forests, celebrating this another outstanding cooperation at the very place where the bilateral cooperation was started by Dasho Nishioka back in 1966. Around 70 people including Dasho Paro Dzongdag, Dasho Secretary of Ministry, Director of Department of Agriculture, AMC staff headed by Programme Director, Embassy of Japan, Japanese consultant, equipment supplier and JICA attended the ceremony.

FMCL PoL station inaugurated for Buli, Zhemgang Dzongkhag

The third PoL station/Geog Service Center opened in Buli, Nangkor Geog under Zhemgang Dzongkhag. The unveiling of service center was graced by His Excellency, Lyonpo Leki Dorji, Minister for Ministry of Economics Affair (MoEA) who was on the official tour to the Dzongkhag on 2nd January, 2018. The Dasho Dzongdag, Section heads, Gup and other relevant officials from the MoEA also attended the program. The onset of the service center is expected to increase the machinery hiring services and also to reduce the people’s burden of getting LPG and other important lubricants all the way from Tingtibee and other far away towns. The program is being executed jointly by Department of Trade and FMCL.

Mini tiller demonstration in Lekithang- Sarpang Dzongkhag

A day long demonstration program on mini power tiller was organized in Regional Farm Machinery Corporation Limited, Samtenling under Sarpang Dzongkhag after conducting at Rubesa under Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag. The demonstration program is done in collaboration with the expert from Mitsubishi Company based in Japan. The program is expected to create better awareness on mini tiller which was found very user friendly and it can be even operated by the women and aged old senior citizen. The program was attended by seventeen farmers from Lekithang village. The officials from Dzongkhag Administration, ARDC, RAMC and geog power tiller operators from Sarpang and Tsirang also attended the program.

Commercial Spring Paddy to be continued

The commercial spring paddy cultivation initiated for the first time in the History of Bhutan was not a huge success in terms of yield yet it was very good opportunity for the implementer like FMCL to experience and gain knowledge for the coming and future programs. <<See More>>

Paddy harvesting ends in Paro Dzongkhag

Unlike in the previous years, the harvesting of paddy in Paro Dzongkhag was well planned and organized from the management view, with the deployment authority given to local government. <<see more>>

Combine Harvester at work

The peak season for paddy harvesting program in all the Regional offices in the country has started and FMCL is trying to provide with hiring services on paddy harvesting with machines (Combine Harvester) @ 4400/- per day with the working time of 8 hours and minimum acres coverage should be of atleasr 1.5 Acres. However, the effeciency of the machine will depend on the field conditions. The combine harvester is deployed under Phuntshothang Commercial Farms for the first time.

The Board Chairperson, Dasho Kinlay Tshering, Director of Department of Agriculture visited Phuntshothang commercial farm for the first time as a Director and Chairperson of FMCL on 19th September, 2017. The chairperson was accompanied by two Chief Agriculture Officer namely Agriculture Research and Production Division, Program Director of Samtenling and Wengkhar were also present amongst the officials from Dzongkhag and Geog Administration.  The Phuntshothang commercial farm measures 662 acres out of which the management could utilize only 207 acres of land with Khamti paddy, Maize, Black Dal and Pigeon pea. The farm was initially executed as project under Department of Agriculture. Few issues like possibility of replacing the existing old excavator currently used for land development was also discussed during the meeting. The chair also expressed her appreciation for the hard work put in to boost the agriculture production in realizing the goal of self-sufficiency.
The management on behalf of Phuntshothang commercial farm would like to thank sincerely for the valuable time and advices to the young youths recruited with the farm.

Fmcl Board Chairperson in RFMCL, Khangma and Norginthang farm

Following the site visit to Phuntshothang commercial farm in Samdrupjongkhar, the Board chairperson made a very short visit to Regional Office, Khangma in Trashigang in the morning of 21st October, 2017 as to monitor the ongoing activity with the office. In the afternoon, the chair visited Norginthang contract farm site to further meet with the employees of FMCL and discuss the constraints and issues with regard to the farm. Currently, the farm owns 13 milking cow and seven calf. The board assured the team in looking for the possible budget to construct a bridge and proper road network within the farm for the convenient of agriculture production and transportation.
We would like to thank the chairperson and the team for sharing the inspiring words with our young youths which would provide moral support and energy to serve better in the subsequent days to come.

CEO meets with DFP and Regional Staffs in Khangma, Trashigang

A daylong meeting was conducted in Khangma, Trashigang with six Dzongkhag Focal Person and Regional Section Coordinators to discuss on the progress and status of the regional office. During the meeting, the officials were instructed to start immediately with the preparation of work plan for next financial year. All regional offices will have to submit the first draft work plan along with financial statement by 1st week of December, 2018 for review and finalization. The keeping of fast moving parts and few post-harvest machines in the FMSC, Tangmachu was also discussed and agreed as to provide social services to the farmers. In the afternoon, the Chief Executive Officer met with the employee of Norginthang farm to discuss the constraints and issues. The expansion of fodder grass development was instructed to carry out in the farm with the technical support from the Regional Livestock Development Centre (RLDC), Kanglung. The management also like to immensely thank the Program Director and the team for providing with milk chiller worth of 190, 000/- (One hundred and ninety thousand only) for Norginthang farm. We will look forward for continued support and help please.

His Excellency Minister for Ministry of Agriculture and Forest granted six additional mini power tillers to Dagana Dzongkhag on the evening of 14th October, 2017. The demonstration was also conducted to the public gathered in the meeting. FMCL will further conduct demonstration and basic operations in the coming days. Training ends for Geog Powertiller Operators.

A month long second round of geog power tiller operators training was successfully completed on 29th September, 2017 with the award of completion certificate by the Offtg. Program Director, Mr. Penjor. A total of 25 new geog operators will join FMCL office making a total of 93 geog operators working in various geogs within the country. They were trained on the basic operations, repair and maintenance of power tillers including the driving test in collaboration with the officials from Road Safety and Transport Authority. Their joining of service is expected to further improve and strengthen the hiring services in mechanizing the farms in the country. The management wishes a good luck with the career ahead.

As per the vacancy announcement announced in the Kuensel news paper on 1st August, 2017 for the post of Human Resource Officer and Company Secretary, the FMCL regret to inform applicants for not able to shortlist the applicants due to following reasons:

  1. FMCL has received 34 applicants for the post of Human Resource officer of which 5 were disqualified due to submission of incomplete document, 6 has not met the academic requirement and 34 applicants on non fulfillment of five year HR related working experience specified under ToR.


  1. FMCL has received 5 applicants for the post of Company Secretary of which, all applicants were disqualified due to non fulfillment of academic marks and five year Company Secretariat related working experience specified under ToR.

Therefore, FMCL has not shortlisted all the applicants and shall seek further approval from the FMCL Board for the re-announcement on revised criteria.

The second batch of power tiller training started from 4th September, 2017 for FMCL gewog power tiller operator. The training is organized by Agriculture machinery center, Department of Agriculture under Ministry of Agriculture and forest. Same type of training is also held at khangma (AMC) Tashiganag for the eastern region gewogg power tiller operator. The training is provided to enhance the efficiency of the power tiller operator during their daily operation. The training will conclude on 4th October, 2017

FMCL Welcomes new member

The management of FMCL is very glad to receive a new member, JCB mini tracked excavator with the support from Ministry of Agriculture and Forest.  A simple lhabsang thruesel ceremony was conducted for the machine on Dated 23rd August, 2017 in the presence of all the staffs working in the head quarter. The office will make efficient and optimum use of the machine in terracing and developing the land for cultivation.
The FMCL also takes the opportunity to extend unfathomable gratitude and sincere appreciation for the unremitting support and help rendered in serving the farming communities.

4th Batch Value Addition and Food Processing Training.

The 4th Batch value addition and food processing training started today (21st August, 2017). The Training is through the support of National Post Harvest Center, DoA, Paro. During the training, participants will be emphasis on post harvest product such as baking of cake, adding value to the product, jam processing and etc.

The 30 FMCL, Farm Assistant is attending the 5 days training and will conclude on 25th August, 2017. The training is focus on farm asst in fulfilling the "Meaningful Youth Employment in Corporate World" initiated by FMCL.

Fourth Batch Of Advance Management Training.

The fourth round of advance management training starts from 7 th August, 2017 for twelve young officers who shall be soon placed to various Dzongkhag as a core representative of FMCL. The five day long training is being facilitated by the experts from Institute for Management Studies Limited and funded by JICA, Project office. The training is expected to equip the young officers on various topic which would help to smoothly manage the office while implementing and executing of planned and unplanned
activities. The management would like to extend unfathomable and sincere appreciation to the project for the unremitting support especially in building the human resource capacity.

Second Round of Engine Overhauling Training

The second round of engine over hauling training for the technical staffs placed under four regional offices begins today in Agriculture Machinery Training Center, Paro, Chundudingkhag. The training is conducted with the technical support from the management of Agriculture Machinery Centre. The technicians will be trained for a period of ten days. The training is expected to help our technician in providing better services to the farming communities especially with regard to repair and maintenance of farm machineries. Handing taking of Rice Mill

The Department of Agriculture under the rice commercialization has constructed and established four modern rice mills under four Dzongkhag namely, Samdrupjongkhar, Sarpang, Wangduephodrang and Tsirang basically to help our rice growing farming communities to process and market the rice. The mills were then run by Food Corporation of Bhutan as there were no other institute and organizations which can handle at that particular of time. Yet, the mills has benefited lots of farmer in storing and milling of rice. The Department of Agriculture has decided to hand over the rice mills with all facilities to FMCL as the newly created company is venturing into commercial and contract farming business. Further, the company is expected to coordinate and function better than FCB taking in view of more technical human resources recruited with the company. The Handing Taking of rice mill was done in between Chief Executive Officer, FMCL and Chief Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Production Division in the presence of Director, Department of Agriculture on dated 4th August, 2017. 
The physical handing taking at the regional and Dzongkhags will be done in between the representative of FMCL and FCB in the presence of Program Directors of ARDC once the Department of Agriculture finalizes the date.

Mr. Kelzang Namgay previously working as Finance Officer, Agriculture Machinery Centre has officially joined the office of Farm Machinery Corporation Limited as Deputy General Manager for Administrative and Finance Division dated 3rd August, 2017 with simple ceremony. He is on secondment for a period of two years approved by Royal Civil Service Commission upon the recommendation of Ministry of Finance.  His joining of office is expected to further strengthen the setting of newly created state own enterprise in serving the country with better coordination and system.  He was also responsible and fully engaged in initial planning and coordination of Board Meetings. The strong knowledge on commercial accounting and rich experience shall add big advantage in fulfilling the core activities of the company. SPRING PADDY HAVESTING IN FULLSWING
For the first time in Bhutan, Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Forest has cultivated spring paddy at southern region. With effect from 1st July, 2017 FMCL started to reap the paddy. Despite the harsh weather FMCL is trying best to come up with productive outcome. If the current spring paddy becomes the successful one it will be a yearly activity for FMCL.

Sensitization Workshop

The two day long workshop started for the graduates working in the farms, regional and to those who will be soon posted to different Dzongkhags to onset with the coordination and execution of farm machinery activities. The workshop is expected to orient our young officers with the procedures and protocol in delivery of efficient services including the proper documentations of the work executed in their respective region.  The section heads will present the overview of individual work plans and way forward as to help and support in moving the mandate of FMCL beyond the horizon.

Power Tiller Distribution at Samtse Dzongkhag

The power tiller distribution for the Samtse Dzongkhag was graced by his Excellency, Minister for Ministry of Information and Communication. The members of parliament, Dasho Dzongdag, Gups of fifteen geog, Dzongkhag Agriculture officials were present in the program. The distribution of power tiller is expected to help our rural farming communities in mechanising the agriculture farms there by increasing the crop production. Tashi Delek to all beneficiaries!!!

Paro Dzongkhag gets power tiller for the secound time

The second round of power tiller distribution for the Paro Dzongkhag was held in the FMCL’s office premises. 14th National Job Fair

The Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) along with forty four other state own enterprise (SoE) and private companies joined the 14th National Job fair organized from 17th -18th May, 2017 in the capital, Changlingmethang by Ministry of Labor and Human Resources with the theme “Jobs for independence and self-respect”. The FMCL has collected 225(Two hundred twenty five only) numbers of applications for the various post announced during the exhibition. The company also received a certificate of participation from the Director General, Department of Employment on behalf of ministry as a token of appreciation for the participation. The company is privilege to receive the award and felt big responsibility is assigned on us to move forward with the young youths to help and support in disseminating skills and knowledge. Contract signing with new recruited staffs

The contract signing with new staffs recruited with the financial support of Ministry of Labour and Human resources was signed on 26th April, 2017 for the Paro regional and Production unit. The similar program was conducted in Khangma, Samtenling, Bajo, Phuntshothang and Kana farm in Samdrupjongkhar and Dagana respectively. The signing program for staff of Nitchula and Thimphu shall be conducted very soon. Further the compact signing with the regional managers and section heads were also conducted as a part of the program. In Paro, the compact signing was conducted with Head, Production Unit and Deputy General Manager, AFD. The signing is expected to help and support in achieving the annual target and plans.

Contractual agreement signed between Taktshang Lam and Chief Executive Officer

Keeping in view of the mandate of reviving of fallow lands owned by individuals and institutions in the country, a contractual agreement was signed between the Taktshang Lam and Chief Executive Officer on 20th March, 2017 to lease in a total of 15 acres registered with Taktshang Monastry located at Tshento Shari for a period of five years. This is second contractual agreement signed with Dratshang after signing with Trashigang Dratshang in the month of December, 2016.  The lease land will be used for the cultivation of different types of crops. Further, the land measuring to 2.7 acres will be taken up by Yusipang Research Center for the conduction of high altitude rice variety. The management of FMCL is looking forward for better utilization of land in the days to come.

Spring paddy cultivation program samtse

The commercial spring paddy cultivation program for the Samtse Dzongkhang was graced by Dasho dzongdag along with the volunteers from different stake holders including 30 students  from yoeseltse MSS on 15th March.  More than 180 participants joined to onset with spring paddy transplantation.

Spring Paddy cultivation at Gelephu,Sarpang

200 acres of paddy transplanting on going at Gelephu. Another 600 acres at Phuntshothang, Chuzergang and Samtse will follow soon.
MoAF is undertaking spring paddy cultivation to increase rice productivity. Currently only 48 percent of total requirement is met from domestic production. The national average rice consumption is 142 kgs per person per year which is highest in the world. In order to achieve sufficiency level, Bhutan must increase productivity (1.5mt per acre), increase paddy area, grow twice in southern belt, decrease consumption etc.
MoAF is taking various measures to mitigate this shortage. FMCL is instituted to provide alternative to farming.

On 16th of November 2016, the team of JICA Nepal Alumnae leaded by Chief Advisor of JICA Nepal visited Agriculture Machinery Center & Farm Machinery Corporation Limited in particular the Late Dasho Nishoka’s Museum and Production Unit. All of them had served under JICA Nepal, especially in development of Nepal Agriculture Program. “Fab Lab” will be in Bhutan soon.

On 14th November, 2016, a team of Japanese Expertise lead by Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan, Mr. Koji Yamada, visited Farm Machinery Corporation Limited. The team delivered a presentation on “Fab Lab” to FMCL staff. The aim of the presentation is to create awareness on “Fab Lab”. The Fab lab will enable local communities, individuals and local entrepreneur to make prototypes before entering into mass production. The 3rd Client Care Training was conducted from 5th till 7th of October, 2016 which consist of 20 participants. The training was held for the staffs from all the four regional centers that consist the Contact Operators. The training is provided to elaborate and enhance skills to the FMCL officials, technicians and operators, training was started from 19th September for the period of 5 days at Agriculture Machinery Training Centre.

Client Care Training

As per the Mandated of Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL), twenty numbers of FMCL staffs are participating in a week long Customer/Client Care Training organized by Farm Machinery Corporation Limited, funded by Strengthening Farm Mechanization Project Phase II (SMaFP II) under JICA. The training has started from 19th of September and it will end on 24th of September at FMCL Conference Hall. Training is facilitated by the various experts from Institute of Management Studies (IMS), based at Thimphu. Training is a part of an Orientation Program for the newly recruited staffs under FMCL.
The objective of the Client Care Training is to Inculcate and Enhancing Professionalism with the clients. That way participant will be trained specifically on clients importance throughout their week long training and the various methods on providing care to the clients.

On 14th September 2016, the management of Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) conducted for 23 new recruitment staffs. The orientation started with the keynote speech being delivered by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) followed by introduction of participants to make comfortable and to know each other. The session was followed with the presentation presented on the vision and mandate of newly established company by Head, Contract Farming.
In the afternoon, expert from JICA presented his view and idea about FMCL. The day ended with the presentation by Finance, ADM and Marketing Officer on their vision and way forward of FMCL. The program was organized in order to have clear idea on the company and to get familiarized with applicable rules and responsibilities of company.

Regional Farm Machinery Co.Ltd, Paro receives Motor Bike

With the support from SFaMP-II Project, FMCL has received 12 Nos motor bike to carry out the hiring activities.
The Bike will be distributed 3 each to FMCL Bajo, Khangma, 2 Nos to FMCL samteling and 4 Nos to FMCL Paro.

The first ever meeting of Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) officials was conducted at Gelephu under Sarpang Dzongkhag on 13/8/2016 corresponding with the coordination meeting of Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC).
